GM's top sellers hold steady as next‑gen Silverado and Sierra head to dealerships in Q4

General Motors posted U.S. retail deliveries of 670,974 vehicles in the third quarter, a 6% decline from the year‑ago quarter, while noting its highest‑volume nameplates remained roughly flat versus the prior year. The automaker identified the Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra, Chevrolet Equinox, Chevrolet Traverse and Chevrolet Trax as its five top sellers for the period.
Several bright spots stood out for Michigan enthusiasts: Chevrolet Trax deliveries rose 16%, Corvette volume increased 29%, and Buick brand sales grew 8%. GM also reported that its fleet operations led the industry, with GM Fleet ranked No. 1 in fleet sales and a 10% year‑over‑year increase.
Looking ahead, GM said the next‑generation 2027 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra are scheduled to begin arriving at dealerships in the fourth quarter. For Michigan buyers and collectors, that rollout will be the next tangible sign of how the refreshed heavy hitters affect showroom mix and local inventory.
What’s known next is primarily timing: dealers should expect shipments of the new Silverado and Sierra in Q4, while quarterly sales trends and model mix will determine whether gains in smaller crossovers, performance cars and Buick continue to offset the overall sales dip.
